It is generally not safe to drink tap water in Mexico. Many areas, especially in rural and less developed regions, may not have access to safe, treated water. It is recommended to stick to bottled water or a filtered water bottle, when it comes to drinking and brushing your teeth, or using a water filter or purifying tablets.

Also, be aware that ice in drinks can also be made from tap water, so be careful with drinks that are served with ice.
